Considering organic certification or already in the process and have questions? Join Organic Alberta for two days of practical information sessions designed to help producers and processors understand what it takes to become certified organic.
Stop in on your way to Agri-Trade in Red Deer for an opportunity to get your organic questions answered by people who understand the certification process, production requirements and organic marketplace.
Both days will include an orientation to the newly revised Canadian Organic Standard, with opportunities to ask questions and get practical guidance on what the updated requirements mean for your operation.

Day 1 — November 12: Sector Drop-In Sessions
9:00 am: Introduction to Organic Certification
10:00 am: Organic Apiculture
11:00 am: Organic Greenhouse production
11:30 am: Organic Livestock Production
1:00 pm: Introduction to Organic Certification (repeat from the morning)
2:00 pm: Organic Food Processing
3:00 pm: Update on the Newly Revised Canadian Organic Standard and Discussion
Come with your questions and spend as much or as little time as you need with the appropriate sector experts.
Certifying bodies will be on hand to answer technical questions about certification, documentation, inspections and the certification process.
Day 2 — November 13: Field Cropping
Day two will focus on organic field crop production.
The session will provide an orientation to the revised Canadian Organic Standard as it applies to field cropping, along with plenty of opportunity to ask questions about certification requirements, production practices, documentation and marketing.
Grain buyers will also be available to answer questions about markets and selling organic products. Detailed Schedule TBA.
