We are thrilled to announce and introduce you to our new Executive Director, Tracey Smith. Tracey joins us with a wealth of experience and a passion for sustainable agriculture and organic practices that align perfectly with our organization’s mission.

Tracey comes to us from the University of Alberta, where she recently completed two years of graduate work in honey bee research. Prior to her academic pursuits, Tracey owned and operated her own beekeeping and honey sales company, Beanstalk Honey, for twelve years. During this time, she not only cultivated a deep understanding of beekeeping and honey production but also established strong connections within Alberta’s agricultural community.

Many of you may already be familiar with Tracey from her presence at farmers’ markets, where she sold her products alongside other local farms and food companies. Her dedication to organic practices and her commitment to fostering connections with producers across the province have made her a respected figure within our community.

Tracey’s educational background is diverse, with studies in conservation biology, Northern sustainable agriculture, and honey bee biology. Her expertise in these areas, combined with her experience serving on the board of directors for various non-profit organizations, including her tenure as President of Organic Alberta, uniquely positions her to lead our organization forward.

We are confident that Tracey’s innovative spirit, creative approach, and deep-rooted commitment to organic agriculture will bring new energy and perspectives to Organic Alberta. Please join us in welcoming Tracey as our new Executive Director, and we look forward to the exciting journey ahead under her leadership.

Should you wish to reach out to Tracey directly, please feel free to contact her via email at tracey.smith@organicalberta.org. She is eager to connect with our members and hear your thoughts, ideas, and feedback.
