A useful tool for understanding the changes to the practices and substances prescribed by the Canadian Organic Standards!
The Organic Standards are updated every five years. This review process helps modernize organic farming practices and incorporate the latest research findings. Operators are therefore required to stay informed about changes to the standards they apply on a daily basis.
In addition to creating webinars, the OFC provides operators with a document that compares the 2020 and 2026 Canadian Organic Standards and helps identify the changes they must implement on their operations to comply with the revised standards.
Please note that this document also provides the rationale for the changes to the 2026 COS.
The compared versions of the Canadian Organic Standards are available here:
General Principles and Management Standards – CAN/CGSB-32.310
Permitted Substances Lists- CAN/CGSB-32.311
Operators have one full year following the publication date of the 2026 COS (March 2026) to comply.
Do you plan to use the 2020–2026 comparative versions
