SUMMARY:Understanding Soil Nutrients with Alessia Marchesan
DESCRIPTION:Click here to join the webinar! \nCurious About the Latest in
Organic Farming? Join Our Winter Webinar Series!\nJoin us for an engaging
webinar series exploring key topics in sustainable and regenerative agricu
lture. Each monthly session features expert guest speakers sharing their i
nsights\, research\, and practical strategies to help you strengthen your
farm's productivity and resilience. Discover how grazing cover crops\, cro
p rotations\, and nutrient management can all work to improve soil health
and control weeds.\n\n\n\n\nAbout the First Session: Understanding Soil Nu
trients - How Fertility Influences Cover Cropping Success\n\nUnderstanding
how nitrogen and carbon move through soil is key to building productive a
nd resilient organic cropping systems. This webinar will explore the funda
mentals of N and C cycling in organic agriculture\, highlighting how these
processes influence soil fertility\, nutrient availability\, and long-ter
m sustainability. Additionally\, Alessia Marchesan will walk us through re
cent research into cover cropping in the western prairies\, including how
strategic cover cropping can enhance nutrient cycling and soil health to u
nlock the full potential of organic systems.\n\nAbout the Speaker: Alessia
  Marchesan\, Student\, University of Alberta\n\nAlessia Marchesan is a PhD
student at the University of Alberta studying carbon storage and greenhou
se gas emissions from organic crop production. Her primary interest is in
soil health and the ability for soil to provide agro-ecosystem services th
at benefit organic production. Alessia is currently involved in a reduced
tillage and integrated crop-livestock system research trial at Agriculture
and Agri-Food Canada’s Lacombe research center\, in association with th
e Organic Federation of Canada.\n\nPlease note that this webinar was origi
nally scheduled with Dr. Gladis Zinati of the Rodale Institute\, who was s
et to present “The Vegetable Systems Trial: A Long-Term Trial Linking So
il Health to Crop Health.” Due to a recent professional transition\, Dr.
Zinati will no longer be presenting this session. However\, the Rodale In
stitute will be sharing insights on this important topic at a future date.
Stay tuned for updates!\nJoin the Webinar at:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/
