In 2012, USC Canada in partnership with Seeds of Diversity Canada, launched the pilot year for what would become The Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security. Since then, the organization has provided incredible support and leadership to Organic Alberta as we implement the seed program in the Prairies.

USC Canada is an organization with a deep history. Founded in 1945 by Dr. Lotta Hitschmanova, the organization has always worked to advance principles of human dignity and equality. These principles have carried over into our work in the Prairies for The Bauta Family Initiative. We’re excited to share the new name with you! We think it evokes the transformative power of food and seed, and the leadership of farmers worldwide.
