The Activity 29 of the Organic Science Cluster 3 Project, Net life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of Canadian organic field crop production systems, is a research to better understand the net GHG emissions associated with the most important organic field crops currently grown in Canada under diverse growing conditions and management practices, and identify technologies and practices that can be adopted by organic field crop farmers interested in pursuing lower GHG emission farming strategies into the future.

In fact, there are few Canadian studies available to date that quantify life cycle GHG emissions of organic systems based on actual data, and the information that is available is inconsistent and does not identify underlying factors influencing these emissions.

So, the research team needs participants! All Canadian organic farmers are invited to participate by responding to a short survey.

Results of this research will provide the organic sector with robust data on GHG emissions associated with the most important organic field crops grown in Canada for diverse growing conditions and management practices and enable farmers to preferentially adopt the most innovative technologies/practices in pursuit of low GHG emission farming.

This survey will take roughly 10 minutes to complete.
