In light of the public consultation on the revision of Canadian Organic Standards (which is open until September 30) la Filière Biologique du Québec has launched a petition to oppose proposed changed to the Organic Standards which would make it possible to grow vegetables, herbs and berries in closed warehouses, in small volumes of soil, with 100% artificial lighting. The proposals are to alter clauses 7.5.2.2; 7.5.2.3; 7.5.2.4; 7.5.2.5 et 7.5.4 in the 32.310 standard.  The petition is to ensure that organic production continues to be practiced in the ground and in the sun, according to the principles of organic farming.
