Canada Organic Trade Association has joined forces in launching the new report Organic Agriculture and the Sustainable Development Goals which was commissioned by Dutch organic specialist Eosta. The report shows examples of how our food systems can have a direct impact on our chances of achieving these goals.
The report has been launched at a time when Heads of State and Government gather at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to follow up and comprehensively review progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 sustainable development goals (SDG).
Based upon more than 50 scientific publications, the meta-analysis concludes that organic agriculture can play an important role in achieving at least eight of the 17 SDGs. These include:
