You can buy organic food directly from the farmers. Many farmers sell farm gate, which means directly from their farm. Others sell at local retailers, or deliver. By going to our Organic Farm Directory you can find who is selling what in your area.
You can also get connected to organic products by becoming a member of Organic Alberta. We have a number of organic farmers and retailers who give you discounts, just for being a member!
Other places to look out for are:
- Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
The consumer pre-orders boxes of seasonal produce from a farm for weekly pick-up. To find a list of producers go to Community Supported Agriculture in Alberta (link to www.csaalberta.com). Note that not all of the farms listed on this website are organic.
- Home Delivery Services
Many businesses now offer home delivery of organic product right to your door.
- Farmers’ Markets
Most farmers markets in Alberta have some vendors of organic product. For a partial listing, click here.
- Retail Stores
Start with your local organic and natural health food store. Most grocery stores also carry organic products. Make sure to suggest to the store managers that they buy Alberta organic product.
