At a recent event entitled ‘AgroEcology and the Economics of Organics,’ Brenda Tjaden of Sustainable Grain offered a presentation on the economic opportunities for organics in Western Canada. In this video, Tjaden looks at how converting over a million acres in Western Canada to certified organic can have little negative effect on price at the farm gate, some of the strengths and challenges facing organic producers in the marketplace, and what’s driving supply and demand for organic commodities.
