Place-Based Food Systems is a two-day conference that will bring together academic and community-based leaders and change-makers who are working to understand and advance place-based food systems as a foundational element of sustainable society. Participants will share and learn about the latest research and on-the-ground experiences and identify directions for strategic, synergistic, and concerted future study and action.

Dates: Thursday, August 9 – Friday, August 10

Time: 7 am – 7 pm

Location: Pacific Gateway Hotel, 3500 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC


A team of global-renowned food systems scholars and practitioners will be providing keynote addresses at the Place-Based Food Systems Conference, addressing diverse food system components including environmental stewardship, Indigenous foodways, capacity and scale, policy and governance, economics, bioregionalism and more. We’re very excited to be welcoming the following keynote speakers to Vancouver this August;
